App Permissions

Why PLG Kids asks for microphone or speech permission.

Speaking practice helps children answer aloud, repeat sounds, and build confidence. Microphone and speech recognition permissions make that practice possible.

Microphone Permission

The microphone is used when a child taps or holds the speaking button. PLG Kids uses the speech result to evaluate the lesson response and provide feedback.

Speech Recognition Permission

Speech recognition may be handled locally or by the browser/device speech provider depending on the device, browser, and platform. Chrome, Safari, Android, iPhone, and iPad can behave differently.

Troubleshooting

  • On iPhone or iPad, check Safari microphone permission and device speech recognition settings.
  • On Android Chrome, allow microphone permission from the lock icon in the address bar.
  • Make sure the page is opened over HTTPS in production.
  • Try a quiet room and speak after the listening indicator appears.
  • If browser speech is unavailable, try another supported browser or device.
